How we manage last-minute applications to volunteer abroad

Learn how Projects Abroad is perfectly positioned to accept and process last minute applications to travel abroad

Have you been affected by a sudden change of plans? Looking to develop your skills abroad? Luckily, the structure of our organisation allows us to adapt quickly and allow last-minute travellers to enjoy a life-changing experience.

We have teams in place around the world who can react quickly to late changes and applications. Though some projects have an unchangeable capacity limit, we are often able to accommodate late bookings, or offer alternatives if your top project is full!

For more information on the current situation surrounding international volunteering, visit our GVI alternatives page. Otherwise, read on to find out which projects are available until the end of August and how we can react quickly to such changes.

Your reliable last-minute bookings provider

Founded in 1992, we are a trusted, experienced, and financially stable educational travel provider that has spent years building working relationships with communities around the world.

These relationships are what allow us to provide a top-quality service to our participants, with 24/7 support and the ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances. A last-minute application just means pulling some strings and making sure we can get someone to the airport in time to welcome you!

Our destination staff have personal connections with our accommodation providers, whether that is local host families, hotels, or participant houses. This means they have a strong network to reach out to when organising additional places.

They are also intimately familiar with the local area and culture, meaning that additional spaces can often be found at short notice. This might mean you stay in a slightly different accommodation than what is advertised, but you will be informed of any change in circumstance before you arrive - we don’t like surprises when international travel is involved.

Of course, we prefer to have as much time as possible to prepare for your arrival. This means we can pull together a more comprehensive dietary plan and make any adjustments needed for your personal needs. However, these needs can be accommodated at short notice, and will be handled by your pre-departure specialist.

Flexibility and availability based on your age

Adult participants aged 18+

For adult travellers aged 18+, including families or group bookings, almost all of our Volunteer and Intern Abroad projects are available on a fully flexible, year-round basis. This means you can pick where, when, and for how long you want to go quickly and easily, and we’ll give you all the information and support you need.

Please note: some projects have seasonal limitations - your Project Expert will let you know if your desired dates are unavailable for any reason.

Teen participants aged 14 to 18

Our High School Programmes, dedicated projects for teen participants aged 14 to 18, operate on a fixed-date, limited availability basis. These projects run for two weeks and match teens with other participants their age from all around the world.

Below is a list of projects that are specifically available until the end of August 2026. If you can’t find something you’re interested in, give us a call or message us on WhatsApp or via our live chat and we’ll see what we can do!
