Volunteering in Africa

Travel to Africa and become part of ongoing efforts to support local communities and development

Volunteer in Africa with Projects Abroad and take part in projects that focus on long-term, sustainable development in local communities. By doing voluntary work in Africa, you’ll get a deeper insight into people’s daily lives and the challenges they face everyday. You’ll also learn about the cultures and traditions.

We work in several countries across the continent. No matter where you choose to go, you’ll find a project that fits your interests and goals. You can protect endangered species like the Rothschild’s Giraffe in Kenya, or lemurs in Madagascar. Or, you can support the educational development of disadvantaged children by working with local teachers.

On our Africa volunteer projects, we take care of all the details, ensuring that you have a hassle-free experience. Our local staff are available to help you 24/7. This means you can focus all your energy on making a meaningful contribution that will benefit local communities.

Where we are based in Africa

Africa is an incredibly diverse continent, with awe-inspiring natural wonders and a rich cultural heritage. We do volunteer work in Africa in several countries, so you’re bound to find a project and country that appeals to you.

Conservation is a popular option, from the rainforests of Madagascar to the South African bushveld. We also prioritise the educational development of children. You can support early childhood development in childcare centres in countries like Ghana, Tanzania, and Kenya. Or, teach English or sports in local schools in Senegal. You can also help build important infrastructure in local communities on our Building Projects in West and East Africa.

In each African country we work in, we have identified the needs of the local communities and the challenges they face. Our programmes all work toward supporting sustainable development and helping people overcome these challenges. Join us as a volunteer in Africa today, and use your time and energy to become part of something bigger.
