Are High School Specials Safe?
Yes!
Our High School Special programmes are fully supervised from arrival to departure. Your teen will always be accompanied by an experienced member of our team who knows the local area and community inside out.
It's rare, but if any problems or issues arise, there is always trained staff available nearby to keep your teen safe and secure, 24/7.
We also carry out thorough risk assessments to ensure that all of our projects are safe and politically stable. For more information on how we keep our volunteers safe, read our approach to safety and backup.
"From the very first day, our support quite literally could not have been better.
Our main Projects Abroad contact and our two other support staff, did quite literally absolutely everything they could to make our stay easy, enjoyable, stimulating and any other adjective you can think of!" Vicki James
Will My Teen be There Alone?
No! - They'll work with other teens from all around the world. Each two-week program usually has between 15 and 35 participants.
Since 1992, we've helped 140,000+ participants travel abroad and make a difference, and every year, we welcome hundreds of teen volunteers.
These High School Specials only run during summer holidays and follow structured itineraries, so many other teens find it perfect for using their summer holiday productively.
What Are The Requirements?
Our teen medical internship also do not require experience; however, all interns must provide an academic reference, which helps us assess their suitability, and they must accept and follow our Intern Code of Conduct and respect the Medical Ethics Policy.
Reach out to our Project Experts who can advise you on which Internship or Volunteering options best fit your passions and ambitions.
Do Programmes Cater For Dietary Requirements?
We know that eating well is important, especially when your teen is on a trip packed with activities.
That's why we prioritize their dietary needs. Whether they're vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, or have any other specific requirements, we'll do our best to accommodate them.
When you book, please let us know about your teen's dietary preferences. Their host family will then provide a range of delicious and nutritious meals that are tailored to their taste.

The whole two weeks was a beautiful, fun, rewarding experience. I often find myself wishing to be back. I miss the children, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. Alice W, Childcare In Ghana
Every day was different and this made my experience so much more interesting and helped solidify my desire to pursue a medical degree. Kaylie E , Medicine & Spanish In Argentina
Joining this project was one of the best choices I ever made. Being able to help people, learning new things and being able to connect with people from different walks of life made the experience an unforgettable one. Kevin A , Public Health in Cambodia
