Working Abroad - Volunteer Projects and Internships Overseas
Many hundreds of people are working abroad as a Projects Abroad volunteer right now. They have joined us for a variety of reasons. They might have joined us as part of an internship, in order to gain work-experience in a profession they wish to take up in the future, either to improve their CV for a future employer or to bolster their UCAS application for university. They might have joined us because they already have experience in a specific area, and wish to use it to improve the lives of others. Or they may just want to help out in any way that they can.
Whatever your reasons for wanting to work abroad, we are sure to have the voluntary project to suit you. We have projects in 30 overseas destinations, in a diverse range of project areas, including Teaching, Care, Sports, Conservation & Environment, Medicine & Healthcare, Business, Law & Human Rights and Journalism. Within each project area we have a variety of placements – in fact we have well over a thousand in total - and we will work with you after you apply to find the best possible placement to suit your interests, skills and abilities. Because of this we are able to accept volunteers of all ages and levels of experience, from 16 to 75+, and from school students to the recently retired.
Working and Living Overseas as a Projects Abroad Volunteer
As well as working abroad in a top quality placement, you will also get to experience all the benefits that come with being a Projects Abroad volunteer. In most of our destinations our volunteers live with host families, which gives you a unique insight into the culture of the country, as well as a surrogate family to look out for you whilst you are away from your own. You will also be fully supported by our directly-employed local staff, who will meet you from the airport, help you through those first difficult couple of days and be there to deal with any problems that you have, for the duration of your project and beyond.
Each of our destinations also has its own volunteer community, which vary in size depending upon the location and time of year, but which always provide new volunteers with countless opportunities to make new friends and share experiences, whether that be on your placement, at the end of the working day, on a weekend trip away, during a spell of travelling after your volunteering has finished, or when you return home again.
Working abroad as a volunteer is one of the most rewarding experiences a person can have – believe us, we know! To find out more about what we have to offer please click on either “Projects” or “Destinations” in the top menu-bar, to start your search.
