Our Achievements

These numbers show a few of our achievements up to now. We cannot do justice, though, to the wonderful work done by so many Projects Abroad volunteers who have given up their time to work overseas since 1992.

Here is a snapshot of some of our achievements:

26 The number of schools, spanning 12 countries, where our volunteers launched campaigns in 2015 to help improve literacy.
30+ The number of developing countries that we work in across five continents.
41 The different nationalities of our volunteers.
50+ The number of projects directly funded and operated by Projects Abroad volunteers and staff.
60+ The number of locations where we hold medical outreach and awareness programmes.
230 The number of Disaster Relief volunteers who helped rebuild seven schools and a day care centre following Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.
478 The number of bird species identified in the Taricaya Ecological Reserve in Peru – more than one species of bird for every hectare in the reserve.
1,000+ The number of projects that we offer our volunteers, ranging from Teaching and Conservation to Medicine and Human Rights.
2,000+ The number of cases that our Law & Human Rights volunteers have completed to date.
4,500 The number of students who can attend school thanks to the efforts of our Disaster Relief volunteers in Nepal and the Philippines.
20,580 The number of students, across 350 schools, who benefitted from our Teaching projects in 2015. Our volunteers have taught conversational English, French, German, maths, art, drama, sports, music and IT!
100,000+ The number of Projects Abroad volunteers to date.

For over 20 years Projects Abroad have been experts in volunteering abroad, work experience and gap year placements.

Founded in 1992, Projects Abroad has now sent nearly 100,000 volunteers from all walks of life to volunteer projects in the developing world.
