Our two and four week Care & Community Projects in Ghana are based in the Akuapem Hills. Although these projects are relatively short, they give you the opportunity to make a significant difference in other people's lives as well as your own. You will learn about another culture as you explore and get to know different areas of Ghana. In both locations, you will be hosted by a local family, which allows you to become fully immersed in the Ghanaian way of life.

Care & Community in Ghana

Volunteers will spend their time working in an orphanage or a local school, renovating and decorating the building for half the day and playing with and caring for the children for the other half of the day. By putting in a new floor or painting a mural on a neglected wall, you will be making a valuable and lasting contribution to the placement.

Volunteers will become part of a small friendly community, and will leave a lasting impression on the children by giving them the extra attention, love, and care that is lacking in their daily lives.

At the weekend, the two week volunteers will take a trip to Cape Coast, with a visit to the old slave fort and the canopy walkway at Kakum National Park. Those joining us on the four week programme will visit local sights in the Eastern Region during the first weekend, and then visit the sights of Cape Coast during the final two weeks, with a trip to a local beach resort for the final weekend.

This placement is fully researched, safety audited and risk assessed in accordance with the British Standard BS8848 for the Adventure Travel Sector.
