Volunteer Destinations in Asia
Projects Abroad offers a variety of programmes in Asia and no matter your choice of region or project, you will have an important role to play and your efforts will be greatly appreciated. Choose from opportunities like working in a hospital in Nepal, doing a business placement in China, living with a Nomadic family in Mongolia, participating on a marine conservation project in Thailand, teaching English in India or IT in Sri Lanka or working in an orphanage in Cambodia. The opportunities are endless!
You can volunteer in the following destinations:
Projects Abroad is based in Cambodia’s capital city, Phnom Penh, and in Siem Reap. In both locations volunteers live together in shared apartments close to the city centres. You can join a Care project, teach local children or help out on our Conservation & Environment project. We also offer Journalism, Human Rights, Medicine & Healthcare and our unique Khmer community project.

You can experience a taste of this contradictory, flourishing culture with Business, Care, Journalism, Law, Medicine & Healthcare, Sports and Teaching projects in the dazzling city of Shanghai. We also provide some placements in the charming and relaxed city of Chengdu, in Sichuan Province. Chengdu offers the chance to experience the more traditional side of China.

Projects Abroad India has its office in the city of Madurai, in the state of Tamil Nadu (in the far south). Most of our placements are located in the Madurai area with a few placements in southern Tamil Nadu. Projects involve Teaching, Care, Conservation & Environment, Medicine & Healthcare - including dentistry, physiotherapy, nursing and midwifery - Journalism, Business, Veterinary Medicine and Sports.

This is a destination for adventurers; an ancient state that was once home to the people who ruled the largest empire the world has ever known! There is a very strong sense of community in our base right in the centre of Ulaanabaatar. Placements are available in Teaching, Care, Medicine & Healthcare, Journalism, Sports, Law & Human Rights and Business.

Projects Abroad Nepal has volunteer placements in Teaching, Care, Medicine and Physiotherapy. As one of the world's poorest countries, volunteers are desperately needed in Nepal to help out in its schools, hospitals and orphanages. Our volunteer programme is based in the bustling city of Kathmandu and the rural town of Chitwan.

Most of our placements in Sri Lanka are located along the coast between Negombo, about an hour north of Colombo and Galle in the south-west of the island. We also have projects in and around the beautiful hill town of Kandy, or in the gem town of Ratnapura. We offer placements in Teaching, Care, IT and Medicine & Healthcare - including Physiotherapy, Nursing and Midwifery.

Projects Abroad Thailand is based in Ao Nang near Krabi, a 1-hour flight south of Bangkok, on the Andaman Sea coast. This area is famous for its dramatic limestone cliffs. Volunteers can choose from Teaching, Care, Conservation & Environment, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy volunteer placements in Thailand.

Volunteer with Projects Abroad in Vietnam in the northern city of Hanoi. Volunteers work on a variety of projects, including Physiotherapy and Care with children with disabilities. We also offer volunteer opportunities for Teaching English in both primary and secondary schools.

Living and Travelling in Asia
While you do volunteer work in Asia, you will also have free time, giving you the opportunity to travel and tour other regions. Whether you want to white-water raft in the foaming glacial rivers in Nepal or sample local dishes in Shanghai, we can guarantee one thing you won’t be is bored!
The experience continues from your work to your living accommodation. Many volunteer placements with Projects Abroad in Asia have the opportunity to live with a local host family. You will find them incredibly welcoming and they will doubtless be eager to find out all about you and your life back home. Take plenty of photos with you and be prepared for lots of questions!
