Volunteer Destinations in Africa
Volunteer opportunities with Projects Abroad are available in nine countries located in each region of Africa. Choose from teaching English to school children in Ethiopia or Morocco, working on a human rights project in Ghana or Togo, doing conservation work in South Africa or working as a radio journalist in Senegal. In the world’s second-largest and second most-populated continent, you are bound to find a region and project to suit your interests!
You can volunteer in the following destinations:
Projects Abroad Ethiopia is based in the capital city, Addis Ababa. Our volunteering opportunities are located in schools teaching English or sports, or in care projects in orphanages and care homes. Volunteers also take part in physiotherapy and journalism work experience projects. You can even learn the local language of Amharic.

Volunteers in Ghana are placed in one of five different regions; Accra, Cape Coast, Koforidua, Kumasi and the Akuapem Hills. You can work on projects such as Teaching, Care, Community – including Building and IT Projects, and Medicine & Healthcare. We also offer Journalism, Veterinary Medicine, Sports, and Human Rights.

Morocco is an exciting destination in North Africa to spend time on a volunteer programme or work experience placement. Projects Abroad Morocco can offer you volunteer projects in Teaching, Care and Sports, as well as Language Courses in both Arabic and French.

Projects Abroad Senegal has its volunteer office in the small town of St Louis. This is located around four hours north of the hectic capital city, Dakar. Placements are on offer in Teaching, Care, Journalism, Sport, and Medicine & Healthcare. You can also choose to learn French.

Our volunteers work in Cape Town in the townships of Lavender Hill, Grassy Park and Imizamo Yethu. You can teach English and many other subjects in schools or work on our Care and Sports projects. Volunteers wanting to gain practical work experience can choose from Journalism, Business and Human Rights projects.

Projects Abroad offers a wide variety of projects in Tanzania, based in the coastal city of Dar es Salaam and around the town of Arusha in the north of Tanzania.
