Volunteering on a Human Rights Placement in Tanzania

Tanzanian women at the Human Rights project

Our Human Rights office in Tanzania primarily works with women’s groups and a juvenile centre, providing support to those who have faced human rights violations and educating them on relevant legal matters.

Our partner NGO also concentrates on helping women, especially widows who have faced injustice, although they do offer assistance to many other people in need. Much of their work involves helping individuals claim their property and inheritance rights.

This placement is open to all volunteers with an interest in legal matters and human rights, whether you’re a law student looking to gain legal experience, a student considering a career in law or a graduate or legal professional in search of practical international experience.

Human Rights Work Experience with Projects Abroad

Volunteers will have the opportunity to get involved in the following areas:

  • Assist with regular visits to women's groups and a juvenile centre.
  • Research legal cases
  • Prepare legal training for the women's groups
  • Provide legal advice to members of the local community

In addition we welcome volunteers who have a qualification in law or who are studying in this field. It is also important that you are flexible, enthusiastic, communicate well and are willing to learn.
