What We Provide
Our prices include all of your food, accommodation, travel and health insurance, airport transfers, transport to and from work where required and 24 hour back-up and support from UK and local Projects Abroad staff. We have set prices from one, two, three or four weeks up to twelve weeks. If you want to go for more than twelve weeks, you can add as many extra weeks as you like (within visa restrictions) – take a look at our prices page.
Here is a bit more information about what we provide:
The full organisation of your project; including a supervisor at your placement and worthwhile work to do. Materials where needed will be provided, for example workbooks on a Teaching project and diving equipment on a Conservation project.
Most volunteers live with local host families, who are carefully selected because they are friendly, welcoming and will go out of their way to look after our volunteers. In some destinations, including China, Vietnam and Cambodia, volunteers live together in shared volunteer apartments or houses. Conservation volunteers also usually live together in a range of accommodation options, from shared tents at a base camp in Botswana to wooden bungalows in the Peruvian rainforest.
Whatever kind of accommodation you're living in, we will ensure you are provided with three meals a day; you can't work on an empty stomach! For lunch you may have a meal at your placement, get given a packed lunch or return to your host family or shared accommodation to eat. In some countries you may be given a food allowance.
We employ around 700 trained staff worldwide. In every country we have an office run by an experienced Country Director, trained in the UK. Local staff can be contacted 24 hours a day. They are responsible for your general well-being and liaise with your placement, accommodation and our UK staff. Read more about our Safety & Back-up.
Transport to and from work is provided by Projects Abroad where required. You will also receive transport to and from the airport.
Travel and medical insurance is included automatically; you are covered no matter where you are from or where you are going. This can be extended on request to cover other travel you may be doing. It is important that you carefully read the policy, especially regarding pre-existing medical conditions, to check that the cover meets with your needs.
Unfortunately our current insurers can only provide cover for our volunteers up to the age of 66. Volunteers aged 67 and over will need to obtain alternative travel and medical insurance. For further information, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
