This is a great project for language students and anyone wanting to experience a cultural immersion.

Building with French in Senegal

You will receive two hours of French tuition every morning five days a week. Classes are interactive and you will be given encouragement every step of the way. You will live with a local host family, so can easily put your new knowledge into practice on a daily basis as you get to know your hosts and mix with local people. Whether you want to master the basics or improve on the French you already know, the teaching will be adjusted to your level.

In the afternoons, volunteers will work closely with volunteers on the Care & Community project to renovate and decorate classrooms in a local kindergarten in the afternoons, creating a clean and colourful environment for children to return to after their school holidays.

At the weekend you will spend time visiting the historic sites in and around St Louis. There are also social activities arranged throughout the two weeks including drum and dance lessons and a meal at a local restaurant.

This placement is fully researched, safety audited and risk assessed in accordance with the British Standard BS8848 for the Adventure Travel Sector.

Every year, thousands of High School Special volunteers actively make a difference around the world. During their time abroad, they contribute towards achieving long-term goals and make a long-lasting positive impact on the communities where they work. If you want to know more about their achievements, read our 2017 High School Specials Impact Report.

On Wednesday 21st February, Projects Abroad’s Rebecca Walton will be giving an online presentation about our High School Special Projects. You can watch Rebecca's presentation and ask questions from the comfort of your own home. Register for this webinar.
