Clearing - What to do after A-level results day
August is normally a time of uncertainty as students receive their A-Level results. Some find they have not done as well as they’d hoped. Decisions have to be made; should you re-apply or accept an offer through clearing?
Taking a gap year at this time can be a meaningful and truly worthwhile way to reassess your plans. You could volunteer your time on a Care, Teaching, or Conservation programme, or gain some practical experience in the field you hope to go into by joining a Medicine & Healthcare or Business internship.
This is a great way to make the most of your time. Contact us by email, phone or online chat to determine which project would be best for you.
Do something different
Take some after years of studying to relish a new experience. You could live with nomads in the Gobi desert in Mongolia , dive in the coral reefs of Thailand, or support conservation efforts in the Galapagos Islands. You could also lend a hand on our Disaster Relief programme in Nepal.
Get work experience
If you want to be a lawyer, teacher, doctor or vet, this is the perfect time to gain some experience overseas. You could help in a hospital in Tanzania or teach English in a school in Morocco. You could also help protect human rights in Ghana. You have many opportunities with us!
Learn a language
The best way to improve your language skills is by immersing yourself in the language and culture. You can live with a local family who will happily help you practice the local language, whether it’s French in West Africa, Spanish in Latin America, or Arabic in Morocco. You don’t need prior experience to join one of our language courses.
Volunteers often go travelling at the weekends, and many also take the opportunity to travel further afield once they have finished their volunteer project with us. Check out our travel tips on our Travel Blog.
