Volunteers needed for Building Project in Tanzania!
Projects Abroad volunteers in Tanzania have had a busy year! They are coming to the end of a building project in a school in Engikarat, near Kilimanjaro, and in the next month we hope to see its grand opening… Following on from this success we now have even more ambitious plans to build a primary school in the Maasai village of Meserani, south of Arusha. Now here’s where YOU come in!
Our volunteers currently teach in a very basic church building, open to the elements. We want to now build a proper school at this site. The project will give volunteers the chance to help not only with building but with teaching too. The school should take a year or so to build, and our team in Tanzania need as much help as possible. The more help that we can get, the quicker the school will be up and running. It is going to be a lot of fun for all involved!
Projects Abroad’s Country Director for Tanzania, Ian Baxter, shares his thoughts: ‘To think that in a year or so we might not only have a school manned and run by volunteers, but they might be working in a school built by volunteers as well - is a really exciting prospect. This is an excellent project both for the volunteer experience and to take part in a job that’s really worth doing!’
