Care & Community Village Project in Samoa
Short-term Projects for 16-19 Year Olds
- Placement location: Fasito'o Tai village on Upolu Island
- Types of placements: Primary school and community projects
- Accommodation: Host families
- Age Requirements: 16-19 years old
If you have ever wanted to experience a different country and culture through the eyes of a local, now is your chance! Volunteer and live in a traditional Samoan village, situated right on the coast of Upolu Island during our Care & Community Village Project in Samoa. Get ready to eat, dance, speak and ultimately live like a local.
During your time abroad, you will work at two libraries. One library is in Apia on Upolu Island and the other is in Salelologa on Savaii Island. Volunteers will focus on painting and repair work at the local libraries, as well as running a literacy and reading programme for local children. The literacy programme takes place during the Samoan school holidays.
In your first week, you will live with a host family, and in your second week, you will stay in a traditional rural village on Savaii Island. This will give you the opportunity to fully immerse yourself in the Samoan lifestyle.
This placement is fully researched, safety audited and risk assessed in accordance with the British Standard BS8848 for the Adventure Travel Sector.
Every year, thousands of Short-term Special volunteers actively make a difference around the world. During their time abroad, they contribute towards achieving long-term goals and make a long-lasting positive impact on the communities where they work.
