Projects Abroad Medicine & Healthcare Management Plans

At Projects Abroad, our staff, volunteers and project partners are constantly working towards improving the impact of our Medicine & Healthcare projects in developing countries across the globe.

To help us do this, we have created Medicine & Healthcare Management Plans. These plans are in place to benefit the communities we work in, our project partners and our volunteers, by providing structure and purpose and identifying long-term healthcare goals. Assessments are conducted annually to find specific areas of need. Once we have finished our assessment, we can take action and start working toward achieving these goals.

We use the Medicine & Healthcare Management Plans to:

  • Define a clear purpose for our Medical & Healthcare programmes around the world.
  • Document our mission and goals so they are clear to everyone involved in the project (our volunteers, staff and partners).
  • Connect the daily tasks of our volunteers to a greater purpose, a bigger picture.
  • Help us focus our resources to the most important causes.
  • Give more structure to each volunteer’s work.
  • Make sure that there is consistency and sustainability in the work of our thousands of volunteers.
  • Help monitor and evaluate our impact at each project.

Mission and Goals of the Medicine & Healthcare Management PlansMission and Goals of the Care Management Plans

COMPANY MISSION
Our mission is to enable an exchange of medical knowledge and to better understand global healthcare practices. In many of the countries we work in, we also provide basic healthcare services and raise awareness of critical healthcare issues and diseases. This empowers local communities, improves quality of life, and opens the door for preventing and treating illnesses and conditions.

MEDICINE & HEALTHCARE PROJECT MISSION

In many of the countries we work in, we also provide basic healthcare services and raise awareness of critical healthcare issues and diseases. GOALS
1. Encourage an understanding of medical practices and promote an exchange of medical knowledge.
2. Improve the quality of healthcare provided to patients.
3. Improve access to basic healthcare for disadvantaged groups.
4. Improve hygiene standards.
5. Reduce the number of cases of Malaria, HIV/AIDS, TB, or Dengue Fever (if the disease is prevalent in the country).
6. Improve the quality of specialised or alternative healthcare to patients.
7. Promote awareness of non-communicable diseases (such as diabetes and high blood pressure).

ACTIONS
Daily and weekly tasks and activities carried out by Projects Abroad volunteers.

Our Global Impact Database
To help us achieve our goals at each Medicine & Healthcare Project, we use the Global Impact Database. This is a secure and anonymous database that we use to identify specific areas of need, track improvements in vital signs of patients that we work with, and monitor overall progress during our medical outreaches or health awareness campaigns.

The reports generated from the database allow us to track the number of outreaches and campaigns conducted, the number of people benefiting from our work and the topics we cover. We use these statistics to determine where help is needed or the follow-up that might be required. In this way, volunteers build on each other’s efforts and progress and contribute to long-term impact.

Each volunteer is given access to the database once they start their Medicine & Healthcare Project, and this access is withdrawn when they finish their project and return home.
