Animal Care in Argentina

This worthwhile project is ideal for anyone who enjoys working with animals and in the great outdoors. Volunteers will spend time at an animal sanctuary that focuses on the care of a wide variety of animals that have been brought to the centre because of injuries or elimination of their natural habitat.

The project is based at the Pumakawa Nature Reserve in Villa Rumipal, located about two hours away from the city of Cordoba. The reserve sits on two hectares of hills and forests.  You will feed and care for the animals and have the chance to observe how some of the wilder animals are treated. You will also help with maintenance work at the centre.

The High School Special programme includes recreational activities in the evenings and at the weekend such as trips to the surrounding hills, a bonfire, or a games night.

Volunteers will be accommodated in a hostel at the sanctuary, in same-sex rooms with good facilities. There is also limited Internet access.

This placement is fully researched, safety audited and risk assessed in accordance with the British Standard BS8848 for the Adventure Travel Sector.

Every year, thousands of High School Special volunteers actively make a difference around the world. During their time abroad, they contribute towards achieving long-term goals and make a long-lasting positive impact on the communities where they work. If you want to know more about their achievements, read our 2016 High School Specials Impact Report.
