Our Teaching in Peru Grown-up Special will give you the opportunity to work alongside likeminded volunteers of a similar age who are looking to help out in some of Peru’s most poorly resourced schools. The project is perfect for passionate volunteers of all skill levels.
As a volunteer, you will be enhancing English skills while working from a syllabus specially designed for the students in the area. Plenty of support will be provided during the project, and you will be able to see a full history of what has been taught at the school and tips left behind from past volunteers.
Worksheets and teaching materials will be easily accessible but you will be expected to use your creativity during your lessons. It is always useful to have authentic materials that the students can use to further their understanding, which is why you will be encouraged to bring teaching materials and resources from home to use during your classes.
Your involvement will not only benefit the students, but you will also have a positive influence on the teachers. By sharing your ideas and interacting with them on a daily basis they can also learn from you while improving their English and teaching skills. In addition to your placement work, you have the opportunity to join a teaching workshop, where you will learn more about the educational system in Peru and the placement where you are working. During the workshop you will receive practical advice and suggestions regarding lesson plans and activities to carry out at your Teaching placement.
You will live with a local host family who will give you a personal insight into their culture and way of life. After volunteering and over the weekend you will also have the opportunity to rest, socialise and get involved in a variety of activities while exploring some of the most beautiful areas in Peru, including Machu Picchu.
This placement is fully researched, safety audited and risk assessed in accordance with the British Standard BS8848 for the Adventure Travel Sector.
