Travel with a purpose by joining our Care & Community project in Peru. Volunteers are needed in care centres to work alongside supervisors and teachers to offer daily support to local children.
You will provide assistance in classroom environments and create educational materials that can be used by the care centre after you have left. Your role will vary daily and can include anything from teaching the children about good hygiene and playing educational games to supporting the local teachers and caregivers. Giving the children one-on-one attention encourages social interaction and helps you identify their strength and weaknesses. This two week project will also include visits to elderly care centres - serving and caring for Peruvian senior citizens.
Spanish lessons are not included throughout the duration of the course, however, you will attend a few classes at the start of the project. Allowing you to easily connect with the children, your host family and the locals. Living with a local host family is a great way to immerse yourself in the local culture. Meals will be prepared for you by your host family during the week, and during weekend trips and social activities you will be able to sample and enjoy the wide range of tasty food that Peru has to offer.
This South American country boasts natural and archaeological wonders, including beautiful cathedrals and religious structures. Social activities will be arranged for volunteers during the week, and weekends will be filled with sightseeing trips. Vibrant markets scattered throughout Cusco, the Aguas Calientes hot springs, and Machu Picchu are just some of the places you’ll get the chance to visit.
This placement is fully researched, safety audited and risk assessed in accordance with the British Standard BS8848 for the Adventure Travel Sector.
