- Age Requirements: 16-19 years old
This unique project will allow you to experience some of Kenya's most breath-taking scenery and wildlife up close. Soysambu Conservancy has an incredibly diverse range of wild animals and will become your home for the duration of your two weeks in Kenya.
You will stay at the reserve in same sex dormitories along with our other regular volunteers. There is a communal area at the front of the volunteer accommodation with stunning views over the reserve.
Volunteering on this project is hard work, a lot of fun and extremely interesting. You will join in with the on-going conservation work. Every day is different and your work will be varied. One of the main aims is to protect and monitor the endangered Rothschild's giraffe. In addition you will be involved in removing alien plants, repairing fences and roads, preventing soil erosion, and collecting data on different species and birds in the area.
Volunteers will be accompanied at all times by our experienced conservation staff who have a great knowledge of the region's geography and wildlife. They will pass on their expertise and enthusiasm to you and you will learn a lot.
During the weekend you will get the opportunity to visit one of Kenya's National Parks.
This placement is fully researched, safety audited and risk assessed in accordance with the British Standard BS8848 for the Adventure Travel Sector.
