Football in Ghana
High School Specials for 15-18 Year Olds
- Placement location: Accra
- Types of placements: Football Club
- Accommodation: Host Families
- Age Requirements: 15-18 years old
Spend two weeks in friendly West Africa. Use your sporting talents to teach new skills and train children on our football projects in Ghana. Football in Ghana is everywhere! Whether football flags on cars, stickers in taxis, locals in football shirts or kids playing in the street, it is immediately apparent that Ghanaians are extremely passionate about football.
Working alongside a local coach, you will spend your two weeks based at our sports placement in Accra learning football coaching and showcasing your skills alongside the locals.
Preparing the children for a local match, which you can then help to referee, will show off your coaching skills. By interacting with the children on a personal level, you will develop their skills and confidence while having fun playing football at the same time. During your stay you will live with a local host family.
At the weekend we'll take you to visit Cape Coast, home to the famous slave fort, as well as a trip to Kakum National Park where you can experience the canopy walkway high in the trees.
This placement is fully researched, safety audited and risk assessed in accordance with the British Standard BS8848 for the Adventure Travel Sector.
Every year, thousands of High School Special volunteers actively make a difference around the world. During their time abroad, they contribute towards achieving long-term goals and make a long-lasting positive impact on the communities where they work. If you want to know more about their achievements, read our 2017 High School Specials Impact Report.
On Wednesday 21st February, Projects Abroad’s Rebecca Walton will be giving an online presentation about our High School Special Projects. You can watch Rebecca's presentation and ask questions from the comfort of your own home. Register for this webinar.
