Join us and do volunteer community work in the Philippines for teenagers. You’ll support local teachers and work with disadvantaged children, helping them learn through play. This will include organising fun educational activities, and giving presentations on important topics like good hygiene.
You’ll also take part in community-based work. This includes beach clean-ups and light renovation work at the school. Working with other teenagers, you’ll help to improve the learning environment for children in overcrowded schools.
This project gives you the chance to travel to another country and immerse yourself in a completely different culture. We organise regular social events and an exciting weekend trip so that you can make the most of your time abroad. Our staff will accompany you throughout your time on this project. Make friends with volunteers from around the world, and create some unforgettable memories in the Philippines!
Please note this calculator is for pricing information only. You will need to choose your final dates and duration on our application form.

What will I do on this project?
On this project, you’ll take part in a wide range of activities that benefit the local children. These include:
- Assisting teachers in the classroom and supporting their work
- Taking part in community work and renovations, like beach clean-ups
- Experiencing the local culture with teenagers your age
Your work will focus on the following areas:
Assisting teachers in the classroom
You’ll be a source of extra support for local teachers, ensuring they can spend time giving students the attention that they need. Organising fun, creative activities is a great way to keep the children occupied while helping them learn through play. You’ll also focus on teaching life skills, giving presentations on topics such as climate change, tuberculosis prevention, and bullying.
Taking part in community work
On this project, you’ll work your fellow volunteers to improve the physical condition of the school. This will include clean-ups and light renovation work. In the towns where you’ll work, the beaches are often covered in litter and there is no proper waste management. You’ll take part in community-wide clean-ups to help address this problem.
Experiencing the local culture
Of course, it’s not all work and no play. You’ll work alongside volunteers from all around the world, making new friends and memories. We organise a range of activities during your leisure time so you can experience the local culture. These include a weekend trip to Sante Fe, and evening events such as game nights or dance classes. You will be supervised by local staff at all times during these trips and events.
Where interns work
Bogo may be a relatively small city, but it’s got everything you need to live comfortably, including shopping centres, ATMs, and restaurants. It’s also got a few impressive heritage sites that are definitely worth seeing while there. Your welcoming host family will be living in this city as well.
We set out the aims and objectives of our projects in documents called Management Plans. We use them to properly plan the work you’ll do. They also help us measure and evaluate our achievements and impact each year.
Ultimately, our Management Plans help us make our projects better. This in turn means you get to be part of something that makes a real impact where it’s needed. Read more about our Management Plans.
Measuring Our Impact
Every year, thousands of High School Special volunteers and interns actively make a difference around the world. During their time abroad, they contribute towards achieving long-term goals and make a long-lasting positive impact on the communities where they work.
We produce an annual High School Specials Impact Report, which documents some of these achievements. Find out more about the impact of these projects, and read the latest report.
