MEP Endorses Projects Abroad in EU Year of Volunteering
Despite the austere times facing Europe there has rarely been a better or more important time to volunteer. 2011 is the European Union's Year of Volunteering which is celebrating the countless hours of voluntary work that people of all ages do both in their local communities and beyond.
As part of this special year, the MEP for South East England, Catherine Bearder, came to visit the headquarters of Projects Abroad in Worthing, Sussex.
Bearder commented on her website: "As 2011 is the European Year of Volunteering I want to encourage as many people as possible to volunteer their time to help others."
"Projects Abroad have a fantastic team of committed volunteers who are making a great deal of difference to communities in the developing world."
"For some countries, the difficult economic period the UK is facing is a permanent state of life. Every year Projects Abroad has 8,000 volunteers helping these communities all over the world."
