Care & Community in Nepal

Our two week Care & Community Project in Nepal is based in the Kathmandu valley - an area rich in ancient temples reflecting the country's great wealth of culture and tradition. Although this project is relatively short, it gives you the opportunity to make a significant difference in other people's lives as well as your own.

You will discover another culture as you explore and learn more about this great country. You will stay in a hotel close to the areas where you are working and will participate in evening activities planned by our local staff.

Volunteers will spend the majority of their mornings focussing on community work in a local school or children's home. During this time you will be renovating and decorating the building. By putting in a new floor or painting a mural on a neglected wall, you will be making a valuable and lasting contribution to the placement.

In the afternoons you will take part in a variety of activities including outreach work, visits to some of our partner care organisations where you will run activities for the children, and visiting local monuments and historical sites.

At the weekend there will either be a trip to the central markets and local temples, or a trip to the huge and beautiful nature reserve of Chitwan national park.

Those joining us on the four week programme will get extra visits and activities arranged during the other weekends.

This placement is fully researched, safety audited and risk assessed in accordance with the British Standard BS8848 for the Adventure Travel Sector.
