Our Christmas Projects are structured trips which run over the Christmas holiday period. They are open to volunteers of all ages and you will work on the projects as a group with other volunteers from around the world.
Our Care & Community Project in Ghana is based in Cape Coast. Volunteers work in a group and spend the two weeks working in an orphanage or day care centre, playing with and caring for children in the mornings and renovating and decorating the building in the afternoons.
By putting in a new floor or painting a mural on a neglected wall, you will be making a valuable and lasting contribution to the placement. As a volunteer you will also be able to make the Christmas season a special time for the children at the placements where you're working.
During your time in Ghana you will learn about another culture and become part of a close knit community. You will be hosted by a local family, which allows you to become fully immersed in the Ghanaian way of life.
The two weeks will be structured with a daily timetable and with evening and weekend activities arranged. You will spend Christmas with other volunteers and Projects Abroad staff and also celebrate the coming of the New Year together. You will have the chance to visit Cape Coast’s famous slave fort, and one of Ghana's stunning palm fringed beaches.
This placement is fully researched, safety audited and risk assessed in accordance with the British Standard BS8848 for the Adventure Travel Sector.
