The Building Short-term Special project is perfect for volunteers who want to get their hands dirty and see the physical fruits of their labour.
Volunteers will work alongside a local NGO in a village just outside Jaipur. This project enables volunteers to play a key role in constructing much needed buildings such as toilet blocks or a community centre, using traditional building methods. Daily activities include digging foundations, mixing and pouring cement, building a roof, or putting the finishing coat of paint on the completed building. You will also have the chance to take part in community activities in the afternoon.
Volunteers will live with host families and get the unique opportunity to experience Indian culture and local traditions.
Some evenings are set aside for cultural or leisure activities organised by our local staff. During the weekend you will get to experience more of the Indian culture by visiting some of the most interesting spots in Northern India including the majestic Taj Mahal in Agra and the captivating pink city of Jaipur.
This placement is fully researched, safety audited and risk assessed in accordance with the British Standard BS8848 for the Adventure Travel Sector.
