Monthly Updates from 2011

Conservation in Thailand - Monthly Update December 2011

There was plenty of jolliness and tons of merriness all around the conservation project during the month of December! We found ourselves getting into the Christmas spirit early on as we began planning a festive theme to our activities. This included diving in the warm tropical waters wearing santa hats and working out ways to bring the joy of the season into the local community and schools whilst continuing to focus our efforts on environmental education.

Conservation in Thailand - Monthly Update November 2011

November has been an incredible month for us here in Thailand, we have done so much that it's hard to know where to begin! We have really felt a sense of being part of the community as the volunteers got involved with the local people and their traditions this month. We worked together on conservation activities, organised events with local schools and celebrated together during the ancient Festival of Light.

Conservation in Thailand - Monthly Update October 2011

On 1st October we officially moved into our new premises, an eco-resort named the Dawn of Happiness. Set amongst a tropical garden, the conservation team and volunteers have set up home in simple bamboo bungalows on the beach at Ao Nammao.

Conservation in Thailand - Monthly Update September 2011

Wow... what a month! September 2011 was nominated as International Clean-up month by environmental agencies worldwide. The conservation volunteers, together with our dedicated team, have been out there cleaning the beaches, the reefs and the ocean. In addition, we have been working on outreach projects, educating the local community and school children.

Conservation in Thailand - Monthly Update August 2011

We have had an amazing month here and, as always, our volunteers leave with a sense of pride, achievement and knowledge that they have made a difference.

Conservation in Thailand - Monthly Update June/July 2011

It's been a busy summer here at the conservation project in Thailand. So let me begin by filling you in on all the cool stuff that has been going on here...

Conservation in Thailand - Monthly Update January/February 2011

January and February were busy months in Ao Nang with up to 18 volunteers on the marine conservation project. Even though we are supposed to be in the middle of the dry season, the weather has been very wet and windy which made it difficult for us to access the dive sites that we wanted to and some days it was impossible to dive at all!
