Ecuador: 1 Week Conservation Add-On
Many volunteers taking part in non-Conservation placements in Ecuador are interested in the chance to also spend a few days working on the Conservation project. This offers a unique chance to experience the natural environment and participate in important conservation activities. This week-long project can only be done in combination with one of our other Ecuador projects.
We are now able to offer all Ecuador volunteers the opportunity to add a 1 Week Conservation Add-On to the end of their main placement. This project can be arranged to fit in with the end of your main project and will give you a full week working on the conservation project and the chance to become involved in a range of conservation work.
Conservation volunteers are based in the town of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno and work closely with the Galapagos National park.
On arrival volunteers will be given a full introduction to the current projects; you will then spend the week working on the same schedule as regular and more experienced volunteers. Projects include monitoring sea lion, marine iguana and sea bird populations around the island and working at the Galapagos National Park’s giant tortoise breeding centre. Other projects include beach clean-ups, educational activities with the local community and schools, and removing invasive plant species.
The cost of this programme includes food and accommodation for the week, insurance and all work related transport.
To add this project to your time in Ecuador please contact your local recruitment office before you go or speak to a member of our staff in Ecuador.
