As students are warming up for their summer holidays, lessons are still taking place around the globe and volunteer teachers are in great demand in the developing countries where Projects Abroad works. If you’ve ever fancied teaching at a summer school in Tanzania, in a kindergarten in Nepal or leading conversation clubs for university students in Mexico, one of our Teaching placements is likely to be right up your street.

You don't have to be a teacher to take part in our Teaching projects abroad. We don’t require our volunteers to have a TEFL qualification or previous experience. You don't even need to speak the local language where you are going. Our Teaching projects are open to all volunteers whether you are on a gap year, at university or wanting a career break. All we require is a good standard of spoken English and plenty of energy and enthusiasm!
Projects Abroad offer Teaching placements in all of our destinations across Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America and the South Pacific, and the range of ages you could be working with is huge. Your Teaching placement could be at a primary or secondary school, in an orphanage or university or at conversation clubs or summer schools for children of all ages.
Wherever your placement, you will usually teach about 18 hours of timetabled conversational English lessons per week. You will also need to take time to prepare your lessons and resources and mark your students' work. Many volunteers choose to help out in other areas too, taking students for extra-curricular activities like sport, drama or music lessons for example.
There are also opportunities for teaching French, German, Spanish and Japanese in a number of our destinations. Contact our team on the number or email address below to find out more.
