Whether it is sport, business, news or entertainment journalism that floats your proverbial boat, we will have a placement to suit you in one of our fourteen destinations across Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe and Latin American. You can choose to work on a print journalism placement - working with a newspaper or magazine - or on a broadcast placement, where you will work with a radio or TV station. You will get an insider's view of how publications and broadcasting services are run and you will also compile an impressive portfolio to take home with you at the end of your project.
Stand out from the crowd with a Journalism work experience abroad. Finding worthwhile Journalism work experience in the UK (where work includes more than just making the tea) has never been easy. To taste what life might be like as a journalist and to get the opportunity to write about the issues that interest, concern or affect you or the host community of your chosen destination, there is no better way than to gain experience on a placement overseas. Volunteering abroad will certainly make you stand out from the crowd and will stand you in good stead for a future career in Journalism. Visit our Journalism pages for more details here.
Put your language skills to good use on a Journalism placement overseas. Most placements will only require to you to use English but for volunteers looking to use other languages, a Journalism placement provides you with a great opportunity to utilise your skills and learn more. Why not brush up your Spanish on one of our Latin American placements or French in Senegal. Those volunteers looking for the rare opportunity to use your Russian, your skills would go down very well in Moldova (although volunteers are not required to speak Russian)! If you're feeling a bit rusty, you could consider taking lessons before or alongside your placement with our Language courses. For more information about how you can take a Language course alongside a Journalism placement, please visit Language Courses page.
