Argentina is the second largest country in South America and a place of extremes - you'll be amazed by the breathtaking scenery and great diversity in its landscape. You can choose to take a Teaching, Care, Medicine and Healthcare, Equine Therapy, Journalism or Spanish placement. Whatever project you take, you’ll be living with a local host family which will give you a good insight into Argentinean life and culture.
Be one of our first volunteers on our brand new, unique Equine Therapy project. Equine Therapy is the use horses in the physical and emotional rehabilitation of patients with a number of different conditions including brain paralysis, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, strokes, autism, sensory motor problems, hyperactivity and behavioural problems. Equine Therapy is an effective way treating multiples disorders through the physical motion of the horse and the contact with the animals which has lots of emotional and cognitive benefits for the patient. As a volunteer you will have your work cut out both helping the patients and with the care of the horses and a Equine Therapy placement will provide you with varied and practical work experience. You’re not too late to apply for our Medicine 2 week special in Argentina. 16 – 19 year olds still have time to get their applications in for our 2 week specials which run on specific dates during the summer holidays. Our Medicine in Argentina 2 week special is running twice throughout the summer; Sunday 5th July – Saturday 18th July and Sunday 26th July – Saturday 8th August. You will have the chance to visit a number of departments in a hospital where you can observe procedures, work in maternity units and help out on ward rounds. We will also take you on a weekend trip in the Andes Mountains and you’ll have a chance to visit the house which once belonged to the famous Argentine socialist revolutionary Che Guevara.
